Requirements
One of the biggest misconceptions is that MRC members must be medical professionals. In truth, anybody who is 18 or older can volunteer as a Medical Reserve Corps member. Volunteers just need to have an interest in helping others during public health events and be willing to attend "Basic" training to help them understand more about the Medical Reserve Corps and the roles members may play during an event.
Volunteering is easy.
To be approved as a MRC volunteer you just need to complete these 3 easy steps:
1. Complete and return an application. You can find a printable application here, or you can submit an application online .
2. Be credentialed through our Human Resources Office. After we receive your application, someone will contact you to set up an appointment for drug screening, background check, and to have your picture taken for your ID badge. It is very important for us to credential volunteers in advance. This will not take very much of your time and will help you to be able to respond soon after an event has occurred.
3. Register and attend the "Basic" MRC curriculum which consists of MRC Orientation, IS700.a An Introduction to the National Incident Management System, and IS100.a An Introduction to the Incident Command System.
Check out the Training Schedule to find out when the next classes will be held.
